Nobody Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 The last part of the kogatana mei could be 正幸 (Masayuki). Quote

Jean Posted May 3, 2010 Report Posted May 3, 2010 Morita san, It you click on the link provided by Andrey, you will have all the pictures and in double clicking each of them you'll get gigantic pictures with all details. I use to have an Eikkyo Bizen Yoshimitsu wakizashi, Kozori school, dtd 1456. Here, I have some doubt. We would need cutting edge length (from top to notch). It is between Wakizashi and tanto length, seems short for an Eikkyo wakizashi ... Generally the mei were "Bishu Osafune Yoshimitsu, with a nengo (date) on ura. The mei is at the bottom of the nakago. As nijimei, it could be closer to the mekugi ana Quote
Andrey Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Jean here foto and size http://img101.imageshack.us/i/dsc00100p.jpg/ Quote
Jean Posted May 4, 2010 Report Posted May 4, 2010 Interesting, it is what we can call a sunobi tanto or a ko-wakizashi (32 cm). Shobu zukuri were frequent in Muromachi (Nagayama dixit) but in Bizen ..., I have seen my lot of Bizen tantos but not in shobu zukuri ... Things are disturbing : - The length which does not fit with the usual one in middle Muromachi (circa 25 cm) at the time of the Yoshimitsu (賀光) but rather sue Muromachi Ca 1550 and on ... - The niji mei but there again in sue Bizen, there are niji mei (Sukesada,Tadamitsu) Definitely, you should send your blade to Shinsa or the mei picture at NTHK - Some of the board can provide you the link. What it is worth will depend on Shinsa result and of the polish. Being a niji mei probably less than a full mei. In fact as usual, the value of something is driven by Offer/Demand Quote
Andrey Posted May 4, 2010 Author Report Posted May 4, 2010 Thanx alot Jean. 2nd day reading this forum i start to understand this language! Definitely, you should send your blade to Shinsa or the mei picture at NTHK - Some of the board can provide you the link. I spoke with Fred Fimio and he told me that i have to send the sword to them. I have troubles to send it now (forbidden send this kind of antiques outside). Only fotos Quote

Jean Posted June 19, 2010 Report Posted June 19, 2010 Shinto Yasumitsu against Koto Yoshimitsu ... (not even talking about the length - 6 1/2 inches in length ) ... nothing to compare Quote
