Hello everyone,

I'm a new member, so here's a short introduction:

I live in The Netherlands, I work as a CNC-millling programmer,

my hobbies are Iaido, Fencing (epee) and reading everything I can find on Nihonto.

I own two Iaito, a Chinese made springsteel Daisho set, Rapier and dagger replica,

and of course four epee's, 5 foils and an Italian foil for fencing.

No Nihonto... yet.

Back to topic: I searched the forum for posts on e-sword.jp; didn't turn up much.

I was wondering: does anyone have any experience with this seller?

Site looks solid, they answer mails promptly in English, but are they reliable?

Is their service anything like Aoi-art's? How's their pricing?

Any info about them would be welcome.

At the moment I'm eying a Tanto on e-sword and a Wakizashi (O-tanto) on Aoi-art

as possible candidates for becoming my first Nihonto.

I have a pretty good idea of the general opinion on Aoi-art from reading posts here,

but haven't found any posts on e-sword, except for some links to blades.

If I missed them please direct me there, if not: any comment is welcome.

Oh, and please correct me if I'm violating any forum rules or customs.

Hi Rob

e-sword is a new dealer. He started the business of a sword about four years ago. However,All his swords have NBTHK paper. Price is also the better.

Thank you for the info Mr. Kanetoyo.

I'm still waiting for an answer to my email to Masayuki Hirako

from e-sword about the Kanekage Tanto though.

I do hope he contacts me again soon,

because I have some more questions about that Tanto.

Hi,

Stephen,

You will find these 4 kanji (ä¿å˜åˆ€å‰£) below :rotfl:

I don't think they mean "retention sword" :rotfl: :rotfl:

Online translation is really not reliable :steamed: :steamed:

Still no clue about e-sword.jp as a seller though...

Has anybody ever done business with them before?

And? What was it like? Was it goor for you too?

I'm not really interested in that Tanto anymore,

still haven't got an answer to my email for one thing,

but I sure still would like to know if they are reliable etc.

Are they worth checking now and again?

Maybe it's time to set up a nice list of known Nihonto sellers.

One where every member here can vote on points like

'reliability', 'customer support', 'pricing', 'quality' , 'complaints', etc.

Is this an idea?

Sometimes no news are good news - I've never heard a complain about them ;). FWIW, the last couple of years I saw them at the DaiTôkenIchi, they had some nice stuff, maybe the better quality items were a little above average in pricing.

Since you're new to this forum you don't know that we discussed this topic before, but decided against publishing such a list for a variety of reasons. The main reason is that Brian doesn't like the idea, and he's the boss. (Sorry Brian, just couldn't resist, spent some time with my twin today .)

Actually the reasons come mainly from the comments I have been sent privately :)

Also...some really wouldn't like the comments about sellers that they regard as good.

One of the most popular sellers sold me a wakizashi that had pics of every part of the blade except for the slightly nasty open fukure and hi that was cut skew at the end. Rest of the dealings were great, but how do I rate him now? See what I mean?

I have also had good blades from some sellers that everyone else avoids. And I am sure others have similar stories based on the pm's I receive. Nah..I don't want to go down that path.
