andreYes Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Malcolm, thank you for the link, very interesting! Especially amazing was to compare the old photos with modern Japan. Here are several pictures of Kyoto, side by side with my photos, taken this spring Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted July 27, 2012 Report Posted July 27, 2012 Very cool, Andrey, especially as you were able to shoot almost exactly the same views without knowing about the much older photos. You obviously have a photographer's eye! Ken Quote

Baka Gaijin Posted July 28, 2012 Author Report Posted July 28, 2012 Great pictures Andrey, Interesting to see how closely they rebuilt Kinkakuji after it was destroyed by arson in 1950. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Burned_Kinkaku.jpg Here ya go Roy: http://www.douglasbrooksboatbuilding.com/Japanese.html (Delve deep into this site for actual building techniques, the one in your picture looks like a Chokkibune..... ) Cheers Quote
Lindus Posted July 29, 2012 Report Posted July 29, 2012 Once again old chap your right. Dontcha love the Japanese version of the Corrical {Taraibune},nice thing about it is that a second use would be for Togi....sale to your work shop then take the Taraibune, fill with water and off ya go.
