ROKUJURO Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 Please let me know what you think of this, as it seems pretty plain..... I think it is a small TSUBA standing on it's head, and it has been badly treated be someone who had no feeling for and no knowledge about TSUBA. If it had a patina, it's gone, and what remains is a Japanese YAMAGANE (or SUAKA) washer, looking indeed pretty plain... Quote
bmoore1322 Posted July 14, 2012 Author Report Posted July 14, 2012 Yes, I do think it was cleaned by someone that knew nothing how to treat these items, and it is pretty plain. Thanks Brian Quote
Henry Wilson Posted July 14, 2012 Report Posted July 14, 2012 It probably would be Ko Kinko and should have looked a bit like this; Quote
bmoore1322 Posted July 14, 2012 Author Report Posted July 14, 2012 @ Henry, yes i agree, some people think if they clean these things they will be worth more money, what a dumb mistake to do. Brian Quote
Peter Bleed Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Please let me know what you think of this, as it seems pretty plain. I think this is a solid $35 guard. I also think that you should not waste your time on things like this. Demand more. Keep looking. When you find something "good" you will recognize it. Peter Quote
bmoore1322 Posted July 15, 2012 Author Report Posted July 15, 2012 I was just curious about it, as I have seen so many with beautiful designs, and then I saw this plain Jane one, and was confused about it. thanks Brian Quote
Brian Posted July 15, 2012 Report Posted July 15, 2012 Why would you be confused by a plain tsuba? Are we now going to see how may swords we can post that lack artistic merit, merely because most of the ones we see are better? This is what it appears to be...a plain utilitarian tsuba not worth posting about. I see you are still increasing your post count in leaps and bounds. Please refrain from posting in every thread. There is a lot more to be learned from reading than posting. Brian Quote
