Henry Wilson Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 This is nice isn't it? http://www.aoi-art.com/sword/katana/07103.html Quote
Stever Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Yes, yes it is. I was looking at that yesterday, what a beautiful piece. Drool! Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted April 27, 2007 Report Posted April 27, 2007 Yeah, but he's charging too much in dollars: about US$500 more, considering the current exchange rate. Quote
Stever Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 You're right (though I only get about a US$150 difference using XE), didn't notice that before. I wonder if that's a mistake; I haven't really checked the USD pricing. Never bought from Aoi. All their nice blades are generally way out of my price range anyways. Cheers Quote
Jean Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Hi to All, I have already ordered from Aoi Art (at least 4 times). I never bother to pay in hard currency, I ask my bank to transfer the exact corresponding amount in yen and that's all. I'll do the same when I buy something in the States. Wire transfer is much cheaper. For those who have already ordered different items from Aoi Art you can try to bargain (I got once a 10% discount on menukis+F/K) Kazushige Tsuruta (as all dealers in Japon) is swift and very professional at shipping goods. Ken-Hawaii Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 You're obviously a more trusting soul than many of us, Jean. I can't remember a time when I had a positive outcome from wiring money anywhere.... Quote
Rich T Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 transfer money from my account to any bank in Japan. Anything under a grand, if I can Paypal or CC I will. It is as Jean says, cheaper, and I think safer, at least it is here in Australia. Never had a bad experience yet and I don't expect to, particularly as I go from bank to bank. Cheers Rich Quote
Jean Posted April 28, 2007 Report Posted April 28, 2007 Yes, You are right Rich, wire transfer is cheaper and safest but I choose to buy from Dealers listed in Dr Stein' website. I have been dealing with Aoi Art, Seikeido, Fine swords, Big Mo, CG Fine Arts, Darcy, Yamabushi. Satcho, AFU Either by Visa through 2 separate mails or by transfer or by paypal, I never found my trust mislead by these dealers who are all of them very friendly and trustworthy. But Wire transfer is my favourite for the reasons explained by Rich and believe me it is part of my daily job  Quote
