kissakai Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Can anyone help with the name of this form? The closest I can find is Shippo but it I'm not sure Any other information would help such as a date/school but with such a basic tsuba I know this is a tall order assuming that it is not a repro It is made of copper and the size is 68 x 68 x 4mm Grev UK Quote
kissakai Posted July 1, 2012 Author Report Posted July 1, 2012 Thanks Curran It was just the other 'points' that threw me Grev UK Quote
Soshin Posted July 1, 2012 Report Posted July 1, 2012 Hi Grev UK, Here is a tsuba in my collection with the similar simple design. The design is refereed to as shippo, shippo-mon, or itomaki Japanese. Your tsuba looks like minor variation of this basic design and is likely a copper reproduction of an original one that was made of iron. Yours truly, David Stiles Quote
