Steve Waszak Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Just want to extend my congratulations, too, Ford. Nicely done. Cheers, Steve Quote
Ford Hallam Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Thank you, Gentlemen You're all very kind. Quote
Curran Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Martin, Thank you for the link. That was a decently written article. Much better than I would expect of most journalist these days. I had not known part of Ford's history, and something in it jumped out at me as a common thread or element in the best artists and art collectors. Quote
NihontoEurope Posted May 19, 2012 Report Posted May 19, 2012 Curran, YW! ...and you are right. Nicely written and well balanced. Perhaps the reporter is a member here : ) I must admit that I saved the text for future reading. For those of You who have not seen the 2-part documentary of the "Lost Tiger" - Search on the Tube. "Ford Hallam" It is AMAZING. /Martin Quote
Brian Posted May 19, 2012 Author Report Posted May 19, 2012 That article and reporter are local to us here in South Africa. I have visited Ford's home, and everything in that article is accurate. I just hope that South Africa gets to keep him..but something in me doubts that we can do him justice. Great article! Brian. Quote
Alan Morton Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Congrats Ford from a long time admirer of your work and comments. Australia is closer to Japan for you. Alan. Quote
Ford Hallam Posted May 21, 2012 Report Posted May 21, 2012 Thank you, chaps, for your generous comments I might be able to keep doing this work a while longer now I actually met the reporter about a month ago when I was giving a talk and demonstration to members of the local knifemaking fraternity at a mate's forge. Henri was very attentive and I appreciated his insightful questions at the time. His interviewing style was equally sensitive and attentive. For a populist piece intended for a general audience I think he conveyed quite a bit. He's actually quite taken with the work and will be doing some training in basic chiselling, shortly, in my studio :D He'll be relieved you approve of his article, I'm sure. regards, Ford Quote
