Drago Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Hi, what is your opinion? Was this traditionally made? http://www.ebay.com/itm/251061760442 I've seen those with machines blades, but this one just looks a lot different... Thanks. Quote
paulb Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 I have never seen a sword in this pattern that was traditrionally made nor one with a nakago like the one shown. I cant see anything in the images to suggest it isnt a standard machine made blade. Quote
Lindus Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Hade two very similar mounts, both traditional o'Wakizashi with butchered and threaded nakago. One as I remember it was signed "Bishu osafune Suke......" Roy Quote
cabowen Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Possible that it is hand made but hard to tell from the photos... Quote

Even if it was not traditionally made, it might be a real bargain as a tank (although rusted) is included in the price...... Quote
Brian Posted May 17, 2012 Report Posted May 17, 2012 Probably handmade....nakago ground and butchered to thread it for the hybrid fittings. You see older swords mounted this way occasionally. The non traditionally made ones have tangs made deliberately for these mounts, not so adapted. But nothing here looks above the "blah" factor imho. Average blade, costing more to restore than it is worth. Militaria. Brian Quote
