george trotter Posted March 12, 2012 Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 Thanks for those pics Ed...you and Chris are right of course...it is a bit of a chore to scan/crop/post...if any come along however that you think interesting please post. Speaking of named swords "Dragon Eyes" (nice boshi...I can see why he called it that)...if you have F&G pink book p.125, you will see a gendaito by Rai Kunifusa called "Hi Ryu Maru" (Flying Dragon) and on p.55 another by him describing the irons he used, including "sand iron from the coast of Tottori". Just interesting stuff IMHO. About Kaneyasu...I forget exactly, but is he the smith they used to call "Hidari Mutsu"? (lefthanded Mutsu). Lots of fun, thanks for sharing. And Chris...the unusual Yoshisada kesho is interesting...his hamon is my favourite...this attached hamon is not him but almost identical (this is Komiya Shiro Kunimitsu who also inscribed a patriotic slogan "One heart"). BTW, it is hard to see, but the yasuri on my Kendo kata Seisui is interesting also...the only sujikai on shinogiji and kiri on hiraji nakago I have seen...I'd be interested if you have seen a modern smith who used it in WWII...might be a clue as to who he is? Regards, Quote
