kusunokimasahige Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Hello Brian, I was wondering if you can change a setting in the forum so that links open in a new tab in stead of them taking you to the site directly in the same tab, changing the NMB page which was open. Best wishes, KM Quote
Kronos Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Hello Brian, I was wondering if you can change a setting in the forum so that links open in a new tab in stead of them taking you to the site directly in the same tab, changing the NMB page which was open. kusunokimasahige Posted February 24, 2012 Author Report Posted February 24, 2012 I knew that would be coming... KM Quote
Brian Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 You may want to try one of them new fangled browser thingys that opens links in a new tab if you middle click. I know they've only been around for 10 years or so...but they work quite well, and us "progressives" find general internet browsing impossible without it. Seriously....does your browser not have that? Brian Quote
Guido Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 I second H-J's request. And btw, what's a "middle click" and how can I find out if my browser supports it? Quote
Brian Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Most mice (assuming you aren't on a laptop I guess) have a scrolling wheel that can also be depressed as a middle click. This opens any clicked link in a new window on most browsers nowdays. Guess I haven't seen any mice or browsers without this feature in years. Once you start, anything else just seems wierd. If your browser has tabbed browsing, you can do this. Probably settings in the tabbed browsing section to control this. Brian Quote
Guido Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks, Brian, I had no idea about this feature - I tried it, and it works. I still like the automatic opening of another tab better, though ... Quote
estcrh Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Most mice (assuming you aren't on a laptop I guess)Do some of you old folks still have a desk top? Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted February 24, 2012 Author Report Posted February 24, 2012 Laptop here, desktop has been broken down for a few months now... (should not try to play Shogun TW2 with full settings when the processor cant handle it and fries itself.... ) What I dislike in links opening in the same tab is that when I open a link I sometimes close the page and then have to look in the active topic list again to find the topic.... Kronos Posted February 25, 2012 Report Posted February 25, 2012 ctrl + click opens in new tab shift + click opens in new window Alternatively let me know which browser you're using and I'll find out how to change the settings. Opera is definately the best for this type of thing though. Quote
kusunokimasahige Posted February 25, 2012 Author Report Posted February 25, 2012 Firefox latest version here. KM Quote
Kronos Posted February 27, 2012 Report Posted February 27, 2012 Type "about:config" in your browser which will take you to advanced options. Then edit "browser.link.open_newwindow" to "3" and "browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction" to "0". That should make all links open in a new tab, but may be a little buggy with javascript links. If you want them to all open in a new window instead then use 2 then 0. Quote
