johnb Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 I saw this Tosho tsuba on ebay and rather liked it...so I but in a big of 64 bucks...and now it's mine and I'm quite pleased with it. H 78mm W 76mm and the thickness varies from 3 to 4mm. I assume edo...but in light that it's a rather thin plate, but could it be earlier? John B Quote
rkg Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Good find, though It looks more like saotome/tembo work to me than a piece that would end up in the "tosho" bin. Best, rkg (Richard George) Quote
Soshin Posted February 10, 2012 Report Posted February 10, 2012 Hi John B., How hard is the iron? Saotome have extremely hard iron even compared to Tempo school work. Once in awhile you come across good tsuba like this on eBay selling at a great price. Yours truly, David Stiles Quote
Mark Andrews Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Hi John, A very nice Tsuba from Ebay,The pattern is very simple. It reminds me of the canopy of Japanese Pine tree's. Regards, Mark. Quote
raven2 Posted February 11, 2012 Report Posted February 11, 2012 Very nice find and great buy. I am also of the opinion that it is early Saotome, but I think the pattern may be mushrooms. Quote
