Looking to see who is going to the Tampa show. I will be there Friday 10th Feb.

Looking forward to meeting members and renewing old acquaintances.

Hi Everyone,

I will be there tomorrow morning around 11:00 AM. I have a early flight tomorrow. I will stay until the end of the show. I have a shinsa slot for Sunday morning. Will bring a few tsuba.

The first day of the show seemed to go pretty well. A fair amount of traffic and some nice pieces being offered. Looking forward to today.

I greatly enjoyed the show, the lectures and meeting people face to face for the first time. I did not make any major investments, but I did buy some books and Bob Benson's uchiko. Furthermore, I just got my blades back from shinsa! Two pinked, two passed. Not bad, actually...

Time to fly back to Finland early tomorrow.

Yep, that was the same with me. Two tsubas, two boxes, two bags and two vases for my wife was what I got away with. The show was quite good. Will post pictures when I get home.

the show was much more active than in the past. All tables were sold and set up. There were quite a few "walk ins". There was one Japanese dealer there, he had items for sale, and that seemed his main reason for coming, but he did buy a few tsuba from me. I thought there was more buying/selling this year. All in all a very nice weekend.

Agree with Mark. The volume was definitely up, but quietly so.

Much of it was negotiated, and it seems many many transaction went off at end of show, after hours, or via email (or phone call) afterwards.

I put out 7 items and had about 12 offers. Took 2 and probably would have taken 2 more if I was still motivated as I was the first day of the show. The Juyo I was after seems to have gone to someone else, and a higher level tsuba I went back for was on HOLD when I finally got up the gumption to go over and take it. Thereafter I came away with a nice Hozon papered Hirata tsuba I've envied for a while.

In post show correspondence, some nice items are still changing hands.

I was emailed today about a nice sword coming to market I last saw many years ago. If in the same condition as I last saw it, there is definitely some good stuff moving around.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to update everyone the final show total for me was four new tsuba, three wood boxes, and two books. I purchased two tsuba that are by far the oldest I have ever had in my collection from a long time collector. I will post once I have more free time.

To All,

We had a great time at the show, it was busy as usual, but even more so with the Shinsa. I spent probably half my time explaining to people about their "results", but it was all in the name of education. I also wanted to thank all the people that attended the NBTHKAB lecture, and I hope that somethings were learned....

For those not there Mike Yamasaki and Robert Benson for the NBTHK AB put on a fantastic lecture/presentation on koshirae. I left an hour later much wiser and quite green with envy.

I agree Mike and Bob did a fine job. A job made easier by the quality of koshirae on view. Both of these gentlemen are not only knowledgable but they share their knowedge freely. Both love swords and fittings. They have turned this love into a business but they still give freely to the sword community. Thank you again for the time, effort and work that both of you do to further the knowedge of sword enthusiasts.
