Guest Nanshoku-Samurai Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Hello all, I'm asking for some help with this signature please. It looks to be an early Bitchu Tsuguyoshi. The workmanship seems to be right for Bitchu but I unfortunately can't comment on its signature. Toko Taikan has only a couple of Oshigatas to compare it to but not for all generations of Tsuguyoshi that there were. Any help or comments as to wheter this might be legit and worthy of Shinsa are highly appreciated. Thank you, Max Quote
Stever Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Just my 2c, but doesn't the fact that it's gaku mei tend to indicate that it's real? I know that this was also sometimes done to put a mei on sword to which it didn't belong, but even in that case, wouldn't the mei itself be likely to be real (i.e. it was cut from a real tsuguyoshi sword)? I think the more important question is if the blade is representative of his works, since the inlayed mei could have come from anywhere. cheers, Quote

Guest Nanshoku-Samurai Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Dear Steve and Stephen, thank you for your input. Infact the Mei is folded over so was "original" to the sword. Sincerly, Max Quote
