Hello.

this is my first post on this forum

This one is out of my comfort zone so I need a bit of help from you boys.Obviously WWII era with what seems a traditionally made blade. In hand it looks in very good shape and original polish.I took some photos of the mei.If not legible,I have more.Any help with this one would be very much appreciated.

The sword looks genuine enough, but to me, the mei looks terrible. Like someone chiseled it into the nakago with a screwdriver

Either the smith was barely litterate (some were) or someone non-Japanese later decided to add a mei to a mumei sword. Better opinions...?

Personally, I prefer Sadamitsu with a rusty nail but then that's just me... :doubt:

Is that Sadamitsu, in the library, with a rusty nail?

Low end, non-traditional oil quenched. Mei is very crude.

I take it this is the general consensus. It still appears to be very well made.Could anybody give an opinion on the value of this sword.

Many Thanks.....Niall

Saw this on SFI and spent some time trying to get the translation, then realized it was in here too. Some of those characters gave me really hard time.

I got Sukegawa Sadamitsu, I'm not totally sure about that beginning since it gave me a small headache.

:thanks: for your effort,Jussi. It certainly is a crudely stamped mei.As you say,I posted on SFI also and mentioned I was putting it up here.Gave me an opportunity to look around this place as well.Great site ;)
