Ok..let's hear your suggestions for the new forum.

I have had spellchecker suggested, which I will be looking at. I can only imagine what they will suggest as an alternate spelling for tosogu, hataraki, choji, suguha etc :D

Do you feel there are too many forums here? Should tosogu merge with Nihonto, and do we need the separate forum for discussing sales/ebay items?

let's hear your comments and suggestions.

Please..no colour changes! I have already lost most of my hair just coding this style, so it is going to stay this way for a while.

I hope you guys will use the wanted and for sale boards. Commercial messages are fine for now...just please include a price.

Personally I like a separate fittings forum. I would really like

a separate ebay forum (so I can avoid it like the plague!).

Everything looks good to me.

Hi Brian

My intial feeling was that there are a few too many forums but after looking at each I think that are all relevant.

How about putting the NMB Support forum in the top right hand corner with profile etc when things settle down?

You could also fuse together the for sale / trade forum and the wanted forum.

Just a few ideas.

Thanks, Richard S and Richard T, for making this forum available to us for such a long period. Really appreciated it. And now, Brain, good luck and gambate !

Excellent work on the new forum!

How about an Armour forum or maybe even a miscellaneous forum where we could discuss netsuke, woodblocks etc. Also can we get the UK sword ban forum back?

Some good suggestions. I will be looking at all of them and think I will implemement some of them.

I also believe the tosogu forum will be good for the tsuba guys, and the "Sales and Auctions" category is specifically for eBay discussions etc. I think i will combine wanted and for sale into one.

As for the Daimyo rank....it is the title I gave to moderators :)

I thought it was more appropriate that the usual title. Rich and Henry have volunteered to help with moderating this board, and I am looking at another volunteer in the USA. We will then have the board covered in all 3 main timezones.

If I create a new forum for Armour/prints/netsuke etc..then won't that make too many forums..or should we have this section include eBay etc discussions?

Keep them comming...good advice, thanks.

Made some changes. Wanted/Sales/Trade is now under the same heading.

The Community News is now also for the UK sword ban issue, and the Auction/Sales heading is also for eBay discussion.

I also suggest we use the general discussion for armour, tanegashima, prints, netsuke etc.

Not going to be too strict in general discussion..use it for whatever you feel like discussing (use your discression of course)

First, thanks to both the old and new moderators for a job well done.

One thing that I'm less than thrilled about with the new format is that it isn't as easy as it was to keep track of what I've already read. Where it used to be that I had only to glance at the threads to see what's new, now I have to open up the forum and scroll down to find new material, if there is any. Maybe I'm not going about this in an efficient manner and that's my problem. If so, please let me know how to see what's new easily. Thanks, Grey

As Stephen pointed out..when you log in to the main forum page, a waving flag symbol on the left will indicate that there are new posts that you haven't read. Also..hovering over the icons briefly will pull up a note on whether there are new posts or not.

Finally...if you change the timezone to your own one in your profile..I find it is fairly easy to see if the latest date of posting is newer then the time you read the posts last.

I agree the old forum was easy to spot new posts, but for now we will have to hopefully adjust. I appreciate the messages of support and am very glad to see how many of the old members have joined.

Wishing us all a speedy growth and much new knowledge.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one, unless your post is really relevant and adds to the topic..
