Dear Ken

many of the kanji can be found but the smith name is hard

on this sword. The following is my thoughts

good luck

Noshu Seki ju nin Yoshichika saku

Maybe Hawley's YOS1064, 1067 as Minamoto Yoshichika

This isn't Minamoto Yoshichika, the fairly well known Taisho/early Showa smith....

The quality, or lack thereof, of the mei, is a major tipoff that this is a Seki mass produced gunto....

That is right Chris.

According to George, this Yoshichika's real name is Yoshioka Kojiro, registered as a swordmaker at Seki, Gifu Prefecture on Sho18/04/26 (1942 April 26)..one of 232 such swordmakers at Seki through WWII.

I was just a bit surprised to see 3 exemples of his work in 2 days whereas I have almost never seen one in 5 years. :)
