the black and white on the red cover are stickers.the last image shows the worst of the binding issue ,there is only 2 or 3 of these and page 17 is the only loose page.the rest of the book is in pretty good condition.

Honcho gunkiko?, lovely old book especially a section where a chap was angry to ,find after buying a sword that the Sam'e had been faked.

Sold a first edition without the authors signature on ebay a few years ago, it made £500.

This is a great book, from the era before the internet and a pile of books on Nihonto in English.

Joly may have made mistakes, but so have they all.

I may be shot down in flames here by fellow board members, but any book by Joly is worth reading and the big ones, Hawkshaw, Naunton, Etc are great learning tombs.

Time spent with books and handling as many examples as possible is never wasted time.

Regards

David (A Joly fan)
