Help with Mei on wakizashi

I am asking for help with translating this mei, I believe it to be a Kanesada. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Hi BD, I read Echigo ? Kanesada. The 3rd kanji looks like kami. Echigo no Kami Kanesada. It is in the database above. John

Is that Tenwa 3rd year 1683, 2nd month ?

Hi Nigel, I just took that as a strange 'nen' kanji. John

々 as in the repeater that is used after say Shin in Shinshinto 新々刀. ( sorry I am not sure of the correct word for this )

 

So 三々 could be 三三 which could be either 33 or 6 ????? but that wont work dues to only 4 years between this and the next period.

 

Just a thought.

I think that the mark between "3" and "nen" is just a part of kanji 年 in a strange form as John already said.

 

BTW, 々 (the mark for refrain) is called Odoriji (踊り字) or Joji (畳字).

From the books it's not the Nidai's Mei:Gimei (or Sandai Kanesada?).Ludolf

I did not think it was correct to the Nidai Kanesada as well do to some of the kanji stroke. Is this of a different generation or Gimei?

Got my info from JSSUS.... however just dug out Token Yoran and found these two Oshigata.... no match Although this is the only Oshigata book I have.....
