BDreier Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hello I am asking for help with translating this mei, I believe it to be a Kanesada. Any help with this is greatly appreciated. Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hi BD, I read Echigo ? Kanesada. The 3rd kanji looks like kami. Echigo no Kami Kanesada. It is in the database above. John Is that Tenwa 3rd year 1683, 2nd month ? Quote
sencho Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 John.... confused with the two marks between "3" and "nen" on the date... what's all that about??? cheers Quote
sencho Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I read that mei too John... (from JSSUS) Shinto, Settsu no kuni (Enpo:1673) Jo-jo saku KAN281 (80pts) TTp52, Â¥8.5M Echigo (no) Kami Kanesada 1673-84,Same as Terukane TER80,also student of Kaneyasu KAN431 or KAN432?,2nd generation Kanesada under KAN280 越 後 (之) 守 包 貞 cheers Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Hi Nigel, I just took that as a strange 'nen' kanji. John Quote
Rich T Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 々 as in the repeater that is used after say Shin in Shinshinto 新々刀. ( sorry I am not sure of the correct word for this ) So 三々 could be 三三 which could be either 33 or 6 ????? but that wont work dues to only 4 years between this and the next period. Just a thought. Nobody Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 I think that the mark between "3" and "nen" is just a part of kanji 年 in a strange form as John already said. BTW, 々 (the mark for refrain) is called Odoriji (踊り字) or Joji (畳字). Quote
Ludolf Richter Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 From the books it's not the Nidai's Mei:Gimei (or Sandai Kanesada?).Ludolf Quote
BDreier Posted March 22, 2007 Author Report Posted March 22, 2007 I did not think it was correct to the Nidai Kanesada as well do to some of the kanji stroke. Is this of a different generation or Gimei? Brian Quote
sencho Posted March 22, 2007 Report Posted March 22, 2007 Got my info from JSSUS.... however just dug out Token Yoran and found these two Oshigata.... no match Although this is the only Oshigata book I have..... Cheers Quote
