Reinier Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 i'm thinking about having a shinsakuto made and at the moment i'm looking around where to order it. unfortunately it's quite expensive and i wonder if it is possible and cheaper to deal with a swordsmith directly without an shop or agent in between. the yen is pretty weak against the euro so that's good but there still is the issue of customs taxes which drive up the price considerably. where would you order a shinsakuto and how would you handle it? Mike Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Hi, haven't ordered myself, but from others experience, it would be difficult to deal with the sword smith yourself, especially if you are not located in Japan and not talking the language. Try here they are reputable and honest: http://www.ksky.ne.jp./~sumie99/order.h ... ew%20Sword Mike Quote
Chris B. Posted March 24, 2007 Report Posted March 24, 2007 I can help answer your questions. I know several smiths personally, and have ordered dozens of shinsakuto for both myself and others. See my web site for details... ejapaneseswords.com Chris Quote
