Chinook Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Hello, Please have a look at two items that I recently added to my collection. The mei on the sword I was told reads, Kanetsugu ??, and the tsuba I don't anything about it other than I like it. Any info would be great, Thanks, Mark P. Quote
Nobody Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 The mei on the tsuba is hard to see. That may be 長州河治 (Choshu Kawaji) 友範作 (Tomonori saku). Quote
Chinook Posted October 26, 2011 Author Report Posted October 26, 2011 Thank You for all that took a look. The sword just got back from a NTHK-NPO Shinsa and the two character mei is that of a Mino-Seki,Tenbum era smith named Kanetsugu. It recieved 75 points, not to bad ,IMO, for what was probably a simi-massed produced blade. I just had to know for sure. I was going to send the tsuba to Shinsa but changed my mind. Thanks again. runagmc Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Congrats on your papers and nice wakizashi. BTW, it doesn't look mass produced to me... to my eyes it looks like Kanetsugu made an effort on that one. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 27, 2011 Report Posted October 27, 2011 Nice design on the tsuba. The 長州 Mei seems to read 萩住河治 友範 Tomonori (?) The paper just thanks you for the purchase and hopes you will buy there again. Quote
Chinook Posted November 4, 2011 Author Report Posted November 4, 2011 Thanks for the info on the tsuba. What might not be apparent from the pictures is that the monkey entering the rocks is the same monkey coming thru the other side. There is actually a opening in the tsuba for the monkey to pass thru. Take Care, Mark P. Quote
Chinook Posted November 4, 2011 Author Report Posted November 4, 2011 Thanks Adam L. I sent you a PM stating why I think the sword is a product mass production. The reasoning being it is alittle off topic for this fourm. Take Care. Mark P. Quote
