Meijin Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Bizen Kamakura Tachi 3k-4k estimate as shown below. Am I seeing this right? http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/lfse ... Id=4870206 Thanks In advance Jin Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Well Jin, It is hard to assess whether it is a good deal or not by the description and those pics. The description mentions a reshaping by a polisher. This may indicate that it had a serious problem that had to be removed, a broken boshi perhaps. Those fellows that appraise the values of auction items can be off one way or the other but sometimes demand drives something much higher than they expect but are usually in the ballpark. So there's an indicator in itself. No guarantee. What does the auction house charge for this in buyers fees? 20% Yeouch!! John Quote
mike yeon Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Think the exact wording was "indistinct tip". Maybe lack of boshi (would explain the price.) I've seen ko-bizen pieces with major flaws (retemper, hagire, etc.) sell for a lot more. It simply a matter of rarity. mike Quote
Mike Posted March 15, 2007 Report Posted March 15, 2007 It is an old way to post low estimate and attract possible buyers and make the bids higher. Mike Quote
