raaay Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 Hi all / on the NHB this was my first ever tsuba purchase , opinions please iron tsuba, choshu - school , i think ? circa - 1750/1800 ?? tsuba , size 84mm x 78mm x 3mm as you can see it has a landscape design with a village and a lake and stream on the mountains in the background ,on the front face. and on the reverse, the back of the mountains. and seems to be off good quality !! ray. Grey Doffin Posted March 12, 2007 Report Posted March 12, 2007 I think it's Choshu, also. Look for a bluish tone in the iron; something you'd expect on good Choshu tsuba. Grey Quote
raaay Posted March 13, 2007 Author Report Posted March 13, 2007 Hi Grey you are right , it has a very nice bluish / black patination to it thanks ray. Quote
Brian Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Ray, Would you mind giving it a gold wash, and selling it to me? Would go perfectly with a set of f/k that I have, which are Choshu signed :D (just kidding..but a good match in theme) I love these fittings, but have never found a really good tsuba match. Regards, Brian Quote
raaay Posted March 13, 2007 Author Report Posted March 13, 2007 Hi Brian very nice looking f/k in gold ? my photos do not show the tsuba at it's best and the close up techniques i am still working on ! so the details off the mountains and the stream and the trees ETC not showing at their best thanks ray.
