eugene walton Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I was charmed by the carving on this tsuba, BUT can it be restored? Quote
Guest Simon Rowson Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Over to Ford Hallum methinks...... Quote
Bungo Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 are the " grey " leapord spots actually " brown " in color ? May be the color is due to camera flash ? If it's brown, then it should be restorable............if shuny grey color, it's still restorable but it will take longer and if under " professional restoration " it will cost more, lot more ( time and $ ) milt the ronin Quote
eugene walton Posted March 11, 2007 Author Report Posted March 11, 2007 no black and gray, the picture is from my scaner, I was told that the tsuba was rusted and a person clean ed it with a brush, if not for the image of the man with the frog on his head I would not of bought it. but for 50 dollars what the hell :D Quote
Bungo Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I can fix it if you care to bring it to Chicago show..................... Couldn't be worse than my " magical mystery tour " tsuba. milt the ronin Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Hey Milt, I thought Pittsburgh's air would be perfect for restoring tsuba or has there been a change since the slowdown at the steel plants? Last there in the sixties. I remember the car got a nice black patina after a bit. John Quote

John A Stuart Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 Hi Eugene, It says Ishiguro I believe, but there is no other characters? John Quote
eugene walton Posted March 11, 2007 Author Report Posted March 11, 2007 the other characters are unreadable Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 11, 2007 Report Posted March 11, 2007 I see the 'Masa" kanji there but it is indeed hard to read. That kanji is found within the Ishiguro school and fits but I can not comment beyond that. John Quote
