edzo Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 Greetings members I'm seeking a confirmation of my translation. I have come up with "Kashu (Kaga) ju Fuji (Shima or wara??) Kiyomitsu Saku" on this tang. Any assistance so that i may pursue my research is welcome, thank you in advance, Ed F. Quote
cabowen Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 hard to see the fujiwara but you are probably correct. The nakago-jiri is classic Kaga.... Quote
edzo Posted August 8, 2011 Author Report Posted August 8, 2011 Thank you Mr. Bowen, I visualized the wara character behind the mekugi-ana and a small portion of the two strokes that I would expect from wara are present at 5:00-6:00 of the ana. Thank you again Ed F. Quote
Veli Posted August 8, 2011 Report Posted August 8, 2011 Hi Ed, Funny coincidence, there is a Kashu ju Fujiwara Kiyomitsu tanto with NBTHK Hozon currently for sale in Finland. I visited the guy who sells the tanto and saw the nice little blade. Papers say it is shinshinto. On the auction page, there is a link to additional pictures, so you can compare your blade and signature to this one. http://www.huuto.net/kohteet/japanilainen-antiikki-tanto-150-vuotta-vanha/185550446 Sorry, in Finnish only...
