Japanese Sword Show and Shinsa

October 7,8,9 - 2011

 

The Midwest Token Kenkyu Kai, in cooperation with the non-profit Japanese Sword Appraisal Association, the Nihon Token Hozon Kai (NTHK-NPO), invites you to a major international Japanese cultural event scheduled to take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 7,8 and 9th 2011. The event will be held at the newly renovated Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport Mall of America Hotel, 3800 American Boulevard East, Bloomington, MN 55425

The event will promote the Arts and Arms of the Samurai, featuring displays of Japanese Samurai swords, traditional Japanese pottery, calligraphy, kimono, and other related items. In addition to the displays, there will be lectures and demonstrations of traditional arts and crafts by Japanese master craftsman.

Sales Room:

There will be a 7000 sq foot sales room where international vendors will be selling swords, fittings, armor, Japanese antiques, calligraphy, books, and like items. Sales table reservations can be made by contacting the individuals below. Sales Tables are 8 foot. Table rates are $175/table with 2 passes – a second table is $150 and a 3rd table or more is $50.00 ea. Dealers are asked to exhibit primarily (80%) Japanese Swords and related items. No modern firearms. General Admission to the sales room is $10.00 per day. 3 day pass is $25.00

Shinsa:

The NTHK-NPO, the oldest sword appraisal association in Japan, will be bringing their appraisal team from Japan. Space is limited, and reservations will be required. $100 per item non-refundable deposit is due at time of reservation; if the item passes, an additional $175 will be charged at the show. Additionally, a service will be offered to submit blades and fitting for those unable to attend the event in person. Reservations and/or questions should be addressed to the individuals listed below. Shinsa will be on Fri., Sat., Sun. Thursday will be for sent in items.

Exhibits:

There will be several hands-on displays of swords including a room featuring the highest quality antique swords. There will be learning displays of sword flaws and polishing appraisal. There will be exhibits of traditional Japanese pottery, calligraphy, and bonsai.

Promotion of Event:

This event will be advertised in Japan. It will also be heavily promoted in the Japanese communities, in major US cities, and in the regional newsletters and press of clubs and societies sharing common interests. The event will be heavily advertised in all major local media, and to Military and Antique Arms Collecting groups throughout the US.

Show Hours:

Thursday – Dealer set-up – 4pm – 10pm. Friday - Dealer set-up 8 AM – 9 AM. Show Hours 9AM to 10 PM Saturday - Dealer set up 8 AM - 9 AM., Show Hours 9 AM to 10 P.M. Sunday - Show Hours 9 AM to 4 P.M.

The Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport Mall of America Hotel is conveniently located near the airport and the Mall of America with regular shuttle service to each. Mention that you are with the Sword Show to get the room discount. Rates are $109.00 single or double occupancy. Toll free reservations: (1-800-637-7453). In order to get this special room rate you must reserve your room no later than 45 days (August 22) prior to the show.

Hey guys,

In the past Larry & Chris have put on great shows; I'm certain this year's will be no different. If you can get there it will be well worth the effort.
