Hey Guys,

I am after years finally seeking to identify the age and maker of this sword. I sure would appreciate any help that ya'll give me. This link should allow anyone to see this sword, rubs, fittings, and info.

Hi Lowry,

I can't see much in your pictures, too much sun coming in the window at the moment, but I would expect a very low end blade in those bone mounts. The nakago looks burnt, which is a sign of lost temper/possible retemper.

If the oshigata were done with soot and tape you need to stop doing that. The soot stays with the nakago and eventually changes the patina. Paper and ink stone do a better job and do no damage.

Hi Grey,

Thanks for replying!

I've not used soot before. I will try taking and posting some better pics today. The rubs were done using charcoal and tissue. I probably did them wrong. Where can I purchase ink stone?
