cabowen Posted May 14, 2011 Report Posted May 14, 2011 Not sure who wrote the kanteisho, but it is dated 1957 and is not an NBTHK Hozon paper- they did not even issue Hozon papers in 1957. It names this as the work of Heianjo Nagamitsu from the Oei era, not the famous Osafune Nagamitsu, or even Hasebe Nagamitsu as the seller claims. It is not dated 1310. The Oei period is nearly 100 years later....The seller seems a bit confused about this sword... Quote
John A Stuart Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 If you were going to pick a smith from within the Heianjo Nagamitsu whether shodai or Hasebe does anyone believe it would be this price, shoshin? These type origami appear from time to time and one must believe they do indicate the sword they are with since there is no proof they are. In other words, assess the sword on it's own merits. Too, would a sword of this calibre even make it to this stage and this condition? I wish it was, I'd buy it in a trice. John Quote

javenowens Posted May 16, 2011 Author Report Posted May 16, 2011 Isn't that a little suspicious to have that many swords by nagamitsu, and doesn't the kanemoto mei say "noshu seki ju kanemoto" which could by any number of kanemoto? Quote
Adonay Posted May 16, 2011 Report Posted May 16, 2011 On Dutch Sword messageboards this seller does not have a very good name. I'm not nearly skilled enough to say something about the sword itself, only heard a lot about this seller and none in a good sense. Quote
