fritaly Posted May 7, 2011 Report Posted May 7, 2011 What do you think of the following auction ? It looks like a broken sword but with the edge on the reverse side. Is it a "sakabato" ? Is it really a sword or could it be some sort of tool ? Quote

Mark Green Posted May 8, 2011 Report Posted May 8, 2011 I wonder how many heads it has removed???? Wow! Quote
Rich S Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Mark - Probably not many, but I bet it has pruned many a bonsai and other flowers/plants. Rich S Quote
sanjuro Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 Agreed. Not apparently old enough to be a specifically 'head taking' blade. The practice of using such a blade for taking heads I believe died out fairly early. It could however be a blade made as a result of one of many of the antiquarian movements throughout the ages.
