I find it it little strange that his website is in English only, that all prices are in US$ and €, that there's no phone number, that he states a shop address in Tôkyô but his domain is registered in Ôsaka. Since I'm in Tôkyô from next week on I might check this shop out.

That is the only way to check Guido, in person. For example my domain is; Domain Name: JOHNSTUART.BIZ

Domain ID: D8959193-BIZ

Sponsoring Registrar: MELBOURNE IT LTD

Sponsoring Registrar IANA ID: 13

Registrar URL (registration services): whois.inww.com

Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited

Registrant ID: B110802778350284

Registrant Name: Seekers

Registrant Organization: Private Registration US

Registrant Address1: PO Box 61359

Registrant City: Sunnyvale

Registrant State/Province: CA

Registrant Postal Code: 94088

Registrant Country: United States

and I'm nowhere near those addresses. This person has just started and has not much stock so far and isn't cheap, for sure. John

Going by the blog linked there, sounds like he might be ok to me. Used to work for a sword shop?

I guess we will have to wait for someone to visit him to confirm, but I'm betting we have a new smalltime dealer with pretty ok prices.

I am also pretty sure the OP is from the site itself too

No need to be shy, you are welcome to join and promote your site and items anytime, especially if the deals are good. Some of those menuki look very nice. Sellers forget they are welcome to post here.

Because he is very interested in Katana and Japanese antique.

Hello, everyone.

I'm Yasuhiro Hatanaka of Menukiya.

I would like to answer to some questions that everyone wrote.

I have just opened my website 18th April. And I'm beginner.

But I would liketo do faithful business for customers.

1: About Internet Domain address and my address.

I live in Tokyo, but the company that I asked to get the domein

is in Osaka.

And so, domain Internet Domain address is Osaka.

I live in very small apartment, and I also work in this apartment.

(Someday, I would like to rent my office or shop.)

Therefore, I think that inviting customers to my apartment is difficult.

And my apartment is very far from center of Tokyo.

But if you come to Tokyo and if you want to look items,

I can go to every town in Tokyo with my items, and I will show you items. :-)

2:About my phone.

I don't have my land-line phone. I only have my mobile phone.

I think that calling to my mobile phone from foreign country,

it is too costly for customer. And so I would like to recommend Skype or E-mail.

Of course, if you needs my mobile phone number on my website, I will write

on my website without hesitation.

And if you come to Japan, I will tell you my mobile phone number.

And I would like to help your stay in Japan. :-)

Anyway, I must study harder to speaking in English, because I'm not good at.

If you have questions and requests to me,

Please feel free to inform me.

I would like to solve as soon as possible.

In closing, I would like to appreciate many countries' considerable help for Japan.

I forgot to write an answer.

About price indication method on my website.

I display price in US$ or EUR.

That is because my saving account can directly receive the international bank transfer

in US$ and EUR from foreign countries.

It cost cheaper for me than the international bank transfer in JPY from foreign countries.

Of course, Item prices vary depending on exchange rate.

I echo John's sentiment Hatanaka San. Congratulations on your business and I wish you every success with your shop. I live in Mitaka so you never know, I might be able to view your items some day.

Best regards

Hi Hatanaka-san,

Welcome to the Nihonto Message Board and I will bookmark your website and take a look at what you have to sell. This is fairly good place for information. I recommended checking out the forum search feature as well as the collection of links to other related website about nihonto and tosogu. :)

Yours truly,

David S.
