SSt Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Would appreciate help with this mei. I read the first kanji as Yoshi, but the second is ? Thanks Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi Steve, I believe it is 'mune' for Yoshimune. John Quote
Nobody Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi, The mei reads Yoshisada (義定). FYI: http://home.earthlink.net/~ttstein/yoshsad2.jpg Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi Koichi san, Is that the 'Tei' sada or the 'Kan' sada? I eliminated the 'Tei' in favour of 'So', 'mune' since 'Kan' was wrong and I missed the 'Tei', 'sada' kanji. Just trying to see my mistake here. Thanks, John Quote

And what do you mean by 'Kan' sada? (貞?) Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi, Thanks. I put the On form in front of the Kan form to differentiate them. I hope you don't mind explaining this. Script forms are difficult especially when there are a few kanji similar to the untrained eye. It's a learning thing, that I can enter in my books for future reference. I wish I could type what I mean but the pics will show what I mean. Thanks, John Oh yes, I see it is the Tei, sada. OK, I'll enter that script under that. John Quote
Nobody Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Thank you, John. I think I understand your point. When I am identifing difficult script forms, I watch only a few points. For example, when I distinguish 完 and 定, I watch only one point shown on the image below. The feature of the point does not change in any script types. Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 18, 2007 Report Posted February 18, 2007 Hi Kopichi-san, That is a really good identifier. I'll remember that trick. Thanks, John Quote
SSt Posted February 19, 2007 Author Report Posted February 19, 2007 Thank you both for the help. Much appreciated. Quote
