Hi Gentlemen,

my hole lifetime I´am obsessed by the idea to bring sth. into being. I now how it feels when falling in a meditativ frame of mind by doing hard work and overcome physical barriers.

Unfortunately I didn´t listen to my Inner voice until now.

My question is if somebody nows how or where I can get information about getting kaji as european.

The fact that I can´t speak Japanese is too bad, but this will be a handicap in anyways. On the other hand I´am shure if someone is willing to do the work and learn, language will be not a big problem at first.

Maybe this sounds childish to someone, but I´am very serious about this question.

sincere thanks

Hello Ruben,

In the for what it is worth category, I do not believe any honest desire for growth in your life is childish, or, if so, only in the best sense of that term.

I had a friend in his mid thirties who moved to Japan to study rock gardens. He was accepted into a monastery, embraced and cherished within the community. The barriers of speech and culture pailed in comparison to his passion. He eventually married into a Japanese family and split the remainder of his life between the USA and Japan.

He was killed two years ago in a car accident and his funeral was attended by many friends from Japan.

In his case, life was infinitely richer because of his 'childish' desire.

Best of luck, David P

Hallo David,

makes me sad to hear that he is gone.

I´am to coward at the moment, but if there is chance I have to capture it.

I try to outwit my self, cause I would be scared to do this step, but on the other hand I now it´s the right desire.

Has anybody an idea how to start my research about wich smith is willing to teach a european deki?

I thought maybe to write a mail to the NBTHK, to find out who is where working or so.

Need a good hint in the right direction. :(

Strict discipline and dedication will provide fruitful rewards in many things.

Perhaps proper spelling and punctuation would be a good start. People might take you a bit more seriously.

My 2.3 cents....

Ray,

How good is your Austrian? Mine is horrible. His English is far better than my European languages, so I wouldn't be so quick to criticise.

One word of advice, when you read that for the first 3 years the apprentices do menial work and cut charcoal that's what generally happens.

No serious smith will waste time much on an apprentice until he has proved his dedication, perseverance and patience. For a gaijin student the expectation is that he will not be prepared to submit himself to that sort of discipline for very long. It's not very romantic and you'll probably have to live like a monk for more than a few years.

I'm not trying to discourage you merely to provide a realistic picture of what you may have to face.

As a first step I suggest learning as much Japanese as possible. That will show some initiative and effort on your part.

The NBSK (Tobunkyo) may be able to advise further as to making contact with smiths in Japan.

Is he Austrian? If so my apologizes because learning and writing German while I lived there *AS WELL* as trying to understand the dialects of the different Austrian states (Tirol, Styria etc..)was a nightmare.

Anyone who has seen "The Pifke Saga" can relate..:). Although that was about the funniest show I have ever seen. Next to "Der Schuh des Manitu".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

you just wrote :

Greetings to god, Please excuse me, my autospell solved/fixed my problem (ie repaired me), i became decayed ...

Goodbye or: (see you again soon )

I think you really need a language course... xD

You probably meant : Grosser Gott (or Guter Gott) Verzeihe mir aber meine auto-spelling function war fehlerhaft unt tauschte mir. Ich hab n'en Fehler gemacht.

Auf Wiedersehen.....

:rotfl:

Naw I knew what I typed. It was suppose to be funny...

But by no means is German, being high German, Tirol German, Favoritian German or any German is my default language.

And actually the proper greeting in Vienna is "Grüße Gott" as learned from the locals and any Weiner can attest to this.

Now can we turn the subject back to what it is suppose to be? I did not mean to hijack the thread!!!

Really!!

Bravo Ruben,

It would appear that you have the fortitude and tact to accomplish your endeavors into another culture.

If I'm saying this correctly, let me bring in another: Good on ya!
