Hello,I'm new to the forum and looking for assistance in understanding what I have here .

I got this ,if I remember correctly,in the late 70s.I Don't know anything about what this should be called ,who made it or if there is any value to it.Here are some photos.Thanks for taking a look .

This is a very big name dating from late Heian/early Kamakura period in Hoki province.

 

The signature is false (gimei).

If I understand what you are saying is that since the signature has been faked that it's age and history is also taited ,so there would be little interest in it's value if taken to a show?

Reinhard only answered the translation question.

Actually he answered 2 ,the purported smith and that it is gimei.

 

 

Would there be interest in this blade at a show?

That is another question all together,there may be interest amongst collectors.

How is the blade mounted?

What is the condition?

 

Just because it is gimei doesn't write it off as a piece of history. Only the has signature is fake the blade is real.

Many people collect many things for many reasons ,as you say you bought this in the 70's you probably turn a profit :D ,that is of course if that is what you are after.
