Brian Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Try and read through the first section here, and see if you can upload the pics directly. Otherwise try another imagehost, as Imageshack has been really unreliable lately. Don't forget to sign all posts with a name. Brian Quote
reinhard Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 the (katana-)mei reads: Ohara SANEMORI This is a very big name dating from late Heian/early Kamakura period in Hoki province. The signature is false (gimei). reinhard Quote
PACO Posted March 28, 2011 Author Report Posted March 28, 2011 If I understand what you are saying is that since the signature has been faked that it's age and history is also taited ,so there would be little interest in it's value if taken to a show? Quote
moss Posted March 28, 2011 Report Posted March 28, 2011 Paco, Reinhard only answered the translation question. Actually he answered 2 ,the purported smith and that it is gimei. Would there be interest in this blade at a show? That is another question all together, there may be interest amongst collectors. How is the blade mounted? What is the condition? Just because it is gimei doesn't write it off as a piece of history. Only the has signature is fake the blade is real. Many people collect many things for many reasons ,as you say you bought this in the 70's you probably turn a profit :D ,that is of course if that is what you are after. Cheers Moss Quote
