lazyasian Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 I have been checking my local classifieds an the following nihonto came up. The hamon appears suspiciously clear and regular even from the poor picture. I am thinking fake but am a novice and the seller is only a short drive away. So is it worth calling and seeing if I can take some pictures of my own to post? Thanks all! Cory Quote
Lee Bray Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 The hamon makes me think zinc alloy training swords. But based on that one pic, it's impossible to say for sure. Quote
Curgan Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Typical Japanese decorative swords. Training swords usually have bohi. Quote
Lee Bray Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Training swords usually have bohi. Mine doesn't but I daresay both are available. Quote
Curgan Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Mine doesn't but I daresay both are available. This is where "usually" goes. My guess is that you use a live blade iaito as these most often come without horimono, right? Quote
Lee Bray Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 No , I have a zinc alloy wakizashi which has no bohi, as in the above picture. Quote
Surfson Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Are they sharp? Look like tourist fodder to me. Quote
