Hmm....off to battle. Squid on my head today..or just a crayfish? :lol: :D

Excellent pics Carlo, some amazing workmanship in those.

I also found some interesting pics if you search for Japan horse armor.

Some of them look more for show than actual use, due to balance and/or weight.

Would they all have been battle armor, or were many of them purely for ceremonial use?

Hi Brian. Yes, I'm interested in armor too. Most of the Kawari-kabuto

were either for "show-off" or to be recognized on the battlefield either by

enemies and allieds. Of the above ones I think only the n.4, 7, 11 and the

armor for Ashigaru (at left) in the 12° were intended for practical

use. Many are Edo period, but extremely strange and scaring ones

were made even in the Sengoku.
