Canada 1 Posted March 17, 2011 Report Posted March 17, 2011 need your opinion please about this katana , some damage all the blade , No marker , no sign , original blade ?? Quote
Canada 1 Posted March 17, 2011 Author Report Posted March 17, 2011 here the blade 3 holes :? why ? you have a idea of the value in this condition the push button missing Quote
Lindus Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 The tassel is not original or Japanese of course, nice sword. If you paid £400 or less you may have a bargain. Roy Quote
Brian Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 3 Holes because it has been mounted a few times in its life. Odd that the one ana is off to the side like that though. Looks like an older sword taken to war. Has taken a beating, but looks possibly restorable. As to value, that is impossible to say without a lot more info and pics, and even then it is hard to gauge. Perhaps $800 or so... but that depends on how bad the flaws are. Brian Quote
Baka Gaijin Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 Evening all, Tassel looks like Fusahimo from a Sword Bag. Cheers Malcolm Quote
Grey Doffin Posted March 18, 2011 Report Posted March 18, 2011 I think there is a very long tate ware' on the omote (long grain separation on the ouside of the blade when worn edge up on the left hip) that might seriously compromise the value. We need better pics. Grey Quote
Canada 1 Posted March 19, 2011 Author Report Posted March 19, 2011 he offer to me this katana for $500 dollar , i think is too high ?? more pic Quote
Canada 1 Posted March 20, 2011 Author Report Posted March 20, 2011 any idea the value in this condition ? $ 500 is a good price ? Quote
Grey Doffin Posted March 20, 2011 Report Posted March 20, 2011 Hi Pierre, If I'm right about the long ware' the value is seriously hurt, but at $500 you'll probably be able to break even or come close, if you buy it and decide to resell on ebay. Grey Quote
johnb Posted March 24, 2011 Report Posted March 24, 2011 Slightly confused Pierre, then is a naval sword in then last pic. Does it have the saya? Johnb Quote

brannow Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Looks like it could be a nice Hosho Yamato blade! I am surprised no one has pointed this out? Lets see a photo of the full sword (both sides) so we can see the shape. Also post a photo of the full nakago (both sides). Quote
Surfson Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I'd also like to see the whole blade, the shape, know the length of the cutting edge and see the entire nakago. It almost looks like it has had a mei pounded out of the nakago, but I can't tell for sure. Has the blade been shortened? Quote
Bujin Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Hi, It's not unusual to find older blades in military mounts. This one looks like it would of been a good quality sword in it's day, but by the look of the damage, that day has passed. I do however think that $500 is not a bad price for it. It just depends if you want minty blades or those with a little character. I love blades with a story to tell. A chip here or a bump there wouldn't put me off if the price is right. Quote
falconj Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 For $500 put it in your collection!!! just my opinion regards John Quote
Canada 1 Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 here the news pics . the blade is the same size of my marine katana Quote
