Jamie Posted March 10, 2011 Report Posted March 10, 2011 you might try just uploading the pics to the board. Quote
bmlusk1911 Posted March 10, 2011 Author Report Posted March 10, 2011 I'll try to later tonight. Thanks. Brock Quote
drbvac Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I will wade into this and see if I have learned anything - I am not so sure this is a 15th century blade and not so sure the mei is not gimei and I think it has been shortened a fair amount. All this in my very humble opinion and hopefully as a learning experience for me as well as others. Quote
bmlusk1911 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Ok, trying to upload the photos in the thread... Photo in Saya: Quote
k morita Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Hi, This mei looks like Kanetsune 兼常, to me. Quote
Surfson Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Are you sure that it's not Kanetsune? Quote
Surfson Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 Morita San - you beat me to it! I agree though. More study ahead..... Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I believe this is the Mino smith which signed Seki ju Kanetsune saku, 1624-36, KAN 2802 The "kane' nanori is distinctive for this smith and as it is a wakizashi explains the nijimei. Investigate how the four feet and the cross in the box is on other 'kane' smiths. John Quote
bmlusk1911 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Thanks for all the replies and advice. I'll try doing an Oshigata of the nakago and see if that makes it easier to read. I'm working the weekend, so I'll post that next week. Greatly appreciate all the input! Quote
bmlusk1911 Posted March 11, 2011 Author Report Posted March 11, 2011 Well it seems a consensus, the second kanji is Tsune, and I see that now in the Oshigata....So, how do I change the title of this thread to "Kane Tsune Wakizashi?" Quote
