alsanjuro Posted March 4, 2011 Author Report Posted March 4, 2011 Its a bit strange that i still have not gotten a response back. So far every email i have sent was answered the next day but i am still waiting for 3 days. I'll keep you posted. Quote
Mark Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 i hope everything works out. As Calos points out Aoi Arts has one section to sell blades that are Nihonto and one would expect they are "Art swords" to be apperciated and valued as art or collectible, they also have the "practical or For Use" section and these are marketed to be used as a weapon, not as Nihonto or art so if they are functional that seems the important factor. The price paid for a sword may not be based on its "art or collectibe" features, there are very expensive blades made to be used (much more expensive that antique Nihonto) So one thing to remeber is that if Aoi Arts lists the blade under "for use" section he may have been concerned with how it would function, its apperance may have been of secondary importance......... not sure as i do not use swords and have never bought one for use, just my experiance seeing swords for sale Quote
Takahashi Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 I am also surprised to hear that you have some problems with your sword from Aoi Art. In my opinion Aoi Art regularly provides adequate pictures of their goods. In fact I even save some of the pictures on my harddrive for my personal Nihonto gallery. Whenever I bought swords from Aoi Art, I was satisfied with the sword I got - though I only bought swords from the art section. Hopefully you can come to a satisfying solution with Aoi Art. Icepic Posted March 5, 2011 Report Posted March 5, 2011 Sir, I hope it is not to late to return it but I feel for the price you paid the sword has way to many flaws. Just e-mail them and inform them that you have inspected the sword and want to return it and ask for a confirmation. If you are past the inspection period perhaps they will make a acception if there was some misunderstanding or perhaps give you credit on another sword. Good luck. Quote
alsanjuro Posted March 7, 2011 Author Report Posted March 7, 2011 I just received a email from Tsurata and he is asking me to send him some photos of my blade so he can explain to me why the sword is the way it is. I will keep you informed in regards to the progress. I'll put a new link to better pictures of the blade for you to have a look at. This are the pics that i am sending to Mr Tsurata to have a look at. The other thing is I would like to thank to everyone for the help over this matter. alsanjuro Posted March 27, 2011 Author Report Posted March 27, 2011 Well it has it has been a few weeks and i have not received a reply from Mr Tsurata in regards to my katana. I have sent him a number of emails and still no answer. On the paperwork that i received with the blade it only listed one flaw which i was fine with but not with whole of the sword been covered with pits. I have decided to let people know on this forum and on others about this problem of mine. I know that some people will be quick to make excuses for Mr Tsurata not responding back to me. I am aware of the situation in Japan and also if he doesnt have time to answer me and yet his site is updated daily. Well i got this blade upraised and its not worth much than $2000 so in a matter os speaking i have a expansive paper weight. Quote
Hinawaju Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Hi alsanjuro, I can´t see the problem here. this is a copy of AOI-ART front side; "We offer high quality Japanese swords, sword fittings, and armors. You can return the goods if they are defective or if you do not want. In that case, please return the goods within a week. We will buy back immediately.http://www.aoi-art.com/" regards, Guy R. Quote
