Hi all

I'm off on another trip to Japan next week and I am including Shikoku for the first time.

Can anyone steer me towards any places that might be of interest regarding Nihonto (historical, museums, dealers etc) while I am there?

Cheers

Kotohira shrine and the surrounding prefecture has the most museums and points of interest. It was an area of special interest under the burgeoning Tokugawa empire. Ii is more interesting for the role of religious revival it has plaed throughout Japans history. In one of the Cho around the shrine is the remnants of an old forge. I will try and figure out where it is at. I have been there (Shikoku) twice and love my scrolls from my visits. It is not the idyylic place you read about. Rather it is a place where one gets the most with only the idea of no destination in mind. But then again I have been lucky enough to have lived in rural Japan so I hope you get the most out of your trip. If you have any questions just shoot me a P.M.

In this area is one of the best sites to see National treasures, swords and armour. Matsuyamajo is OK and picture taking is allowed but, the place to go is Oyamazumijinja on Mishima Island. Do not miss this shrine!!! John
