Can't access the swordsmith database

Hello all

 

I'm a new member and when I attempt to access the swordsmith database, I receive an HTTP403 error along with a message that I must login to have the page displayed. Since I'm logged in the NMB, is there another login required? Thanks for any suggestions.

No you didn't Jamie. You posted a link to Dr Stein's Japanese Sword Index.

The swordsmith Database is completely different and is hosted by the JSSUS and hasn't worked for months since the database broke.

Nothing we can do about that. I suggest using Nihonto Club database for now.

What are the data listed next to the smith's name when searching in the swordsmith's database?

What can I read out of this result, e.g.

On the left side : infos in Japanese (different mei/era/school)

on the right side: Translation in English

The known signatures that one can expect to see for this smith are listed in romaji 1,2,3 and the kanji associated with them also listed 1,2,3 on the left. As well the province the smith was active in as well as the period. John
