Justin Grant Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 No expert, but looks like a South Manchurian Railway stamp (see topic above this one). Also looks like someone tried to drill new holes in the nakago. Quote
David Flynn Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Naval Anchor stamp for stainless steel blades. See arsenal stamps sticky in this topic. Quote
Hermes Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 All the holes are drilled, two through, one not through. Quote
Grey Doffin Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 The blade looks real enough. "Blossom in wind" painted on the nakago I think refers to: Shi Sho Gi Hana Buki (please excuse all the mistakes I just made transliterating the Japanese into Romanji), which translates to something like: After death, like flower petals blowing in the wind. No idea why it would be painted in English. Grey Quote
Hermes Posted January 28, 2011 Author Report Posted January 28, 2011 I have a few SS blades with the Naval Anchor stamp, but this one is a larger, i never seen a real WWII blade with English? Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Refurbished as Iaito ? Nakago kirijiri, half-thru-drilled mekugiana, english caption added by the Iaidoka, possibly... Quote
Hermes Posted January 29, 2011 Author Report Posted January 29, 2011 The blade is heavy and sharp. Quote
