drdata Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Looks red/brown to me. A bit faded perhaps. Regards Quote
Curgan Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 red also (the light might make it seem like orange) Quote
Stephen Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 well yes, thats what i bought it as, but it came orange, welll see what the seller does to correct. price paid 400, because i thought it red Quote
Curgan Posted January 25, 2011 Report Posted January 25, 2011 Ah, it is hard to find a honest seller these days... that's why I prefer dealing with forumites. Quote
Stephen Posted January 25, 2011 Author Report Posted January 25, 2011 Well its to early to call him dishonest yet...if he doesnt refund or as he puts it looking at another one he has stored, well see too soon to tell Quote
drdata Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 I'm not aware of there even being orange tassels. Is the concern that this is repro or a dye job? If repro it was a scary good job. Regards Quote
drbvac Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Stephen: Didn't think there were orange ones = red/brown - officers major/colonel ?> heres a pic of one I found and this is called "red/brown" - certainly on the orange side of the color spectrum Quote
Curgan Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 There were red/brown ornate for generals, red/brown for field officers and blue/brown for company officers. Orange is either a forgery or a low quality tassel. just my 2 cents Quote
george trotter Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Hi Stephen, Speaking as someone who has only seen a few red/brown tassels I can only say the following: I have seen blue/brown tassels that have faded to light blue/brown, so suppose it is possible that some red dyes might also fade to orange/brown. I would say however, that the seller should send the red/brown in the pic unless he SAYS this is only a representative pic and actual item may vary. Hope this helps. George. Quote
