IMHO it is genuine but it looks like someone took a wire brush or something similar to the nakago - not filed - just buffed. Would take the top off the mei and the blade looks fine but again - only my take on it

She looks a bit tired. But if it is one of the Sa gang, it would be very old. 1400's

Many smiths signed 'Sa'.

Is that some cool looking utsuri I see in some pics?

A shame about the nakago

Nice.

Jock,

We keep using up huge amounts of space uploading pics for an opinion. I would like to know if these are just pics of a sword up for sale somewhere?

They look like auction pics (Daimyou?)

If so, I think one or 2 pics will be sufficient, with the rest linked to the original listing. Just a waste of space to upload tons of pics for a quick opinion, and then the topic dies.

Hi Brian,

I just bought a wakizashi ( viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9332 ) of somebody who also has this particular sword he is unsure if he'll keep it...and has realistic (based on my limited judgement) expectations money wise...I'm not in the position to buy it...but if anybody else is interested I could always forward details etc....

But on a general basis...would it help and is there a way that I can delete pics in my own posting after a while? I am aware that I often give in to the temptation to post rather too many than too little pics to paint a realistic picture...

Give me a guideline and I'll stick with it.

Thanks heaps.

Steve,

You mean yours as in "for sale" or ....?

I don't want ppl deleting their pics or info without a very good reason. Most posts stay here for future reference, and that's also why I don't like photobucket etc where future posts will be irrellevant due to no pics as they eventually are deleted there. I just want ppl to be reasonable in the amount of pics they upload. If it's a serious study blade, use as many as you like. If just a quick opinion for a possible purchase..well you get the idea.

I am against over regulating everything, and we don't need more rules. So just use your own discression.

Edit to add: I have no problem with ppl uploading here or on other hosting sites. I think the key thing should be: Is this a blade or topic that will have some relevance in the future and are you posting a reference example that would be good to keep on this forum? If so..then perhaps better to upload it here where hopefully it will stay for future members. If it is some passing item that isn't of much interest and won't have a lot of discussion..then you can upload wherever you like. No set rule.

No. It's not for sale. I just sold another blade to Jock on ebay and neither of us knew the other was a member here. We exchanged emails and he expressed his interest in this blade. If I'd known he was a member I would have pointed him to the previous topic so as not to waste eveyones time.

Sorry guys!

I actually thought using photobucket was a good idea so it would use less bandwidth from this site. This is wrong?

Nevermind. You already answered that question.
