Jean Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 At last he arrives at noon, very tired, but no hard feeling. I had few minutes to take some pictures : Nagasa: 70 cm Tachi signed - niji mei Within 4 month I'll tell you who is the maker, it will be on kantei in our next meeting. The suguta though not frequent, is typical of this school and the same for the hamon Quote
Curgan Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Congrats Jean, I love the shape, elegant with nice fumbari... Quote
Jean Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 I shall say some of the Heian shape moto haba : 2,8 cm Saki haba : 1,3 cm Quote
John A Stuart Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 So!!!! This is the Juto you have been expecting. Looks very nice from these teasers. I have my suspicions already. Msr. Claus was never so kind to me. My white Christmas just turned green. John Quote
Veli Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Looks nice, no coal in your stockings this Christmas :D Asking just for personal interest: are there ko-ashi in the hamon? Cannot resolve such detail in the pictures... BR, veli Quote
Jean Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 Hi John, Not Juto, only TH, fresh out of the wood .... Quote
huntershooter Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Very lovely blade Jean. Would love to see it "in the flesh". Quote
Brian Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 "Juyo-candidate" we should maybe be saying? That is stunning. Haven't looked too hard, but that hada is wonderful. Surely too healthy for Heian period? Hada almost appears to have some ayasugi or matsukawa in it..but just a quick glance. It's a beauty! Brian Quote
Jean Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 "Juyo-candidate" we should maybe be saying? Maybe , your description Brian is very good taking into account the quality of my pictures. (In fact ko mokume with some hada tachi and a lot of Chikei) In the left hand I held my torchlight to lit the blade and in my right hand I had my Nikon D90 with its zoom 18/200, (just for you to imagine the weight, and I got these pictures, the best I have ever made). No it is not Heian, but it is Koto Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Looks nice Jean, congrats. Next kantei with Kitsuno for attribution means she has no papers yet, I assume... Purchased in Japan ? Ubu (seems to have 2 filled mekugiana) ? Quote
Pete Klein Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Jean -- I am so happy for you! This sugata has been my favorite and some day hopefully I shall have something similar. I fell in love with this when Andy Quirt first showed the following sword to me. Unfortunately, my pockets are not quite deep enough (as in by a long shot lol): http://ginzaseikodo.com/tomasaE.html Quote
ububob Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 I am happy that you are the new custodian. Enjoy. :D Quote
Jean Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 Next kantei with Kitsune for attribution Hi Carlo the pictures are not good enough to go on the French Forum, it is for our association meeting the Kokusai Token Kai (KTK). You are right concerning the nakago. Hi Pete, though it is not Kobizen it has strange correspondance but for the ko ashi, I could not have afforded a Ko Bizen. Quote
Carlo Giuseppe Tacchini Posted December 29, 2010 Report Posted December 29, 2010 Hi Carlo the pictures are not good enough to go on the French Forum, it is for our association meeting the Kokusai Token Kai (KTK). You are right concerning the nakago. My bad, I realized my mistake reading your post of her being TH. Quote
Jean Posted December 29, 2010 Author Report Posted December 29, 2010 No hard feeling, Carlo. BTW, I had a spontaneous kantei by my friend Ted Tenold, in an e-mail, which was dozen, he is incredible taking into account my poor pictures. Ted Quote
Gregc Posted December 30, 2010 Report Posted December 30, 2010 Geez, that's a beaut. Thank you for sharing. I'm living through you guys~ Quote
cabowen Posted January 5, 2011 Report Posted January 5, 2011 almost looks like some ayasugi hada there Jean...Very nice! Quote
ububob Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 I find that blade rather adequate. :D (Brian, please note that I am not attemptimg to be a wiseass. I am only attempting to use understatement in an amusing manner. However, since it really adds nothing substantive to this thread perhaps a delete is appropriate.) Quote
micha Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 looks like a ko naminohara with the ayasugi hada. M. Quote
Jean Posted January 6, 2011 Author Report Posted January 6, 2011 Chris, you are right and it is very surprising taking into consideration that in hand it looks a combined of mokume and O hada Micha, have a look at the nakago, it is Bizen, nioi deki. Not much activities. Quote
pcfarrar Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 I don't think it looks like mainstream Bizen maybe Omiya Morikage? I could be completely wrong but that's my guess. Either way its a great looking sword Quote
Gunome Posted January 6, 2011 Report Posted January 6, 2011 Hello Jean, Very nice blade. It will be hard to wait until the next meeting to see it Sébastien Quote
Jean Posted January 7, 2011 Author Report Posted January 7, 2011 David, Absolutely not the suguta Tadamitsu: uchgatana and not Tachii Quote
