Yes, Merry Christmas and thanks to all who have made this site all it is.

I'm in Japan now. Here's a Christmas pic of me and my daughter...I look miserable coz we'd just gone to the National sword museum...and it was closed.

Thanks to those of you who sent advice regarding spots to visit. Looking at the list now.

May I be allowed to add my greetings for the festive season to all you great people out there and my thanks to all for the pleasure I get from reading your posts? I don't really do the 'Bah Humbug' bit cos I happen to like humbugs (but they pale into insignificance compared to Pontefract cakes - thats one to baffle those of you who are not from the UK). When you get to my advanced years Christmas is a rather potent reminder of the passage of time but I still enjoy it, despite the bl***y freezing weather.

My greetings also to all for the festive season. Our Christmas day in the West is 30 degrees celsius and the ocean is calling.

Whilst at this time in Australia we may sometimes dream of the white Christmases we see on Christmas cards, we never see them here and the remote and sometimes forgotten reality of them can be quite trying. So my sympathies also to those who battle with deep snow and difficult restrictive conditions at this time of year.

I realise that the French and indeed the rest of Europe perhaps may have strange and exotic customs, but why would you wish to go fishing for flies? Come to Australia...... we have to beat them off with tennis rackets here, no need to go fishing for the little pests. :lol:
