Sporkkaji Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Hoping someone can help me out with this one. I've actually got half of it, since the signature perfectly matches "Kanehisa 2" on this page http://home.earthlink.net/~ttstein/index.htm but help with the date info on the other side of the nakago would be appreciated (sorry for the poor picture). Also, would anyone happen to have any information about Kanehisa himself?? Thanks! Quote
Grey Doffin Posted December 15, 2010 Report Posted December 15, 2010 Hard to see the date; you might want to put up a better picture if you want to be sure. I see, "Showa Ni Ju Nen Go Gatsu Hi." If I'm right that's a day in May of 1945. Grey Quote
Sporkkaji Posted December 18, 2010 Author Report Posted December 18, 2010 Any suggestions on where to find more information on Kanehisa? I'm assuming he's an Army RJT smith because of the star stamp, wouldn't that mean there would be existing researchable documentation somewhere? Will be sending this in to have a shirasaya made next week. Very nice blade, but the late war koshirae has seen much better days. Quote
SwordGuyJoe Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 He's listed in the Gendai Toko Meikan on page 171, rated $1M yen in the toko taikan (TK-122), and you are correct that he is also a documented Rikugun Jumei Tosho (http://home.earthlink.net/~steinrl/gendai2.htm). Edit: Forgot to add that he's listed in Hawley's as KAN 961. Quote
Sporkkaji Posted December 19, 2010 Author Report Posted December 19, 2010 Thanks! I'll need to pick up copies of these if I can manage to find affordable ones somewhere. Quote
