I humbly seek advise on this mei and blade.

My novice eyes tell me the blade *LOOKS* authentic enough. And that it is WW2 military.

Someone is selling for 500.00 (which is probably what it is worth....but??)

Signed Kanetada, I believe, and dated Showa Ju Shichi Nen Ichi Gatsu: January of 1942.

As long as there are no serious problems with blade or mounts the price is fine; you'll be able to get out of it what you have in or even make a buck or 3 when the time comes to move on.

Not sure what you mean by datestamp. There is a Seki Arsenal acceptance stamp, if that's what you are referring to.
