werner Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 ....sorry wrong pics...bit upside down... Quote
werner Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 ...the only thing I found is: 賀州住出羽守藤原高平 kashu ju dewa kami fujiwara takahira can see some resemblence....then again .....? I really admire some of you guys....kanji are not something I ever master.. Jock Quote
David Flynn Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 I read the bottom two kanji as HIROSIGE. It also looks like there is some missing, in that the Nakago looks reshaped. Quote
Tokaido Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Hi Werner, the tip of the nakago has been cut off and reshaped, obviously. The remaining top half of the smiths kanji is visible only. Loking at the long signature, which is barely readable AND taking into consideration the information about TAKAHIRA, I find the Takahira TAK 12 or 13 from Hawely as a very close match. Kashu Tsujimura den Uemonji Fujiwara Takahira See also the attatched scan from Shinto Taikan. Greetings Andreas Quote
IanB Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Werner, As Andreas has said, the smith's name is largely lost through shortening. I read Kashu Kanazawa ju Hiro (?)emonjo Fujiwara .... AS Andreas says, the smith is almost certainly Takahiro. Ian Bottomley Quote
werner Posted November 1, 2010 Author Report Posted November 1, 2010 Ian, David & Andreas, Thank you very much for your help & assistance....just wonder how you guys do it...whenever I compare the results it makes sense...just don't find the roots like yourselves...guess experience comes with years... cabowen Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 Kashu Kanezawa ju Tsujimura Denzaemon no Jo Fujiwara Taka (hira) This is the sandai Kanewaka. They signed Takahira at first. Quote
Nobody Posted November 1, 2010 Report Posted November 1, 2010 A little correction; 加州金澤住辻村傳右衛門尉藤原… Kashu Kanazawa ju Tsujimura Denuemon no jo Fujiwara + (Takahira?) He may be the younger brother of the sandai Kanewaka. Ref. http://www.l-wise.co.jp/super-jsa/aucti ... ode=detail Quote
werner Posted November 2, 2010 Author Report Posted November 2, 2010 Hi, Thanks for all the input...I'll post some better pics of the mei when I receive it.. Jock Quote
