The hi and bonji are the about as cheesy as it gets.....If this was something special I would have thought Ebay would be the last place the seller, in Japan, would turn to to sell it....

Perhaps if current listings are to be discussed then instead of a critique a list of points to study on the item in question, ie: 1. The age and validity of the certificate.

2. Study the hamon. 3. The quality of the Hi and bonji. etc etc

Then let people look and make their own conclusions guided by those who know what to look for.

The Nagamitsu(Juyo Bijutsuhin, owner:Takeda Hideo) is written as 74.53 centimeters according to my reference book.

Epey sword is 71.2 cm.

does this mean the blade is o-suriage now?

This sword is a celebrated sword naming BIZEN NAGAFUNE NAGAMITSU of the KAMAKURA period(AC1333~1483)

Yimu, no O suriage= mu meï

Impossible to say anything from the pictures. It is at leat half the price it is worth if genuine.

Bonji :doubt:

thank you for the explanation, Jean. i was , of course, being sarcastic. If the two numbers are correct, ain't no god damn way this blade is genuine, because Morita-san's number was obtained in modern time and since then probability of any alternation of the nakago is practically zero.

Comments on this listed sword are superfluous, the pictures are lacking required details, a fact that speaks for itself. But for information I add a Juyo Token Tachi signed Nagamitsu, 80.9 cm, Showa ? Nen 2 Gatsu Hi, late Kamakura jidai, February, Showa jidai (1312 to 1317).

As a rough guide this Tachi was priced Yen 5,500,000.
