Dear All,

I would like to inform everyone of a new site http://www.nihontoauction.com

this is a brand new Nihonto marketplace for everyone.

All dealers are welcome to join, at the moment there are 6 major currencies available to sell your items,

GBP, USD, EURO, AUD, CAD and JPY. "Reserved price" and "Buy Now" available at no charge,

fees are 10 JPY listing and 2% final value fees.

I am also hoping that some Japanese dealers will join Nihonto Auction and some

good items will be listed here bypassing Yahoo and eBay .

I will be working on adding Japanese, French, German and Russian languages.

If you have any question please pm or email me.

Thank you for your time,

Kind Regards,

Vitali

Looks like a great start - that said are there going to be screening of sellers or in a month will it be full of Chinese fakes like one of the other - on-line auctions places :dunno:

Hello gents,

Thank you for feedback and support, actually i don't want to have any fakes there, Chinese or none Chinese and for this purpose there is a "Reproductions" category.

If anyone notices the fake item just let me know and it will be removed or moved to "Reproductions". There will be no screening of sellers, but i can block the whole country if necessary.

The first auction starts at October 1, i will try to make auctions at least twice a month (beginning and middle of month), meaning posting new items ...while re listing the old ones too.

If anybody wishes to join me and start listing it would be great, i will notify few sellers also, if you know someone who sells please spread the word.

Yes, some items has been listed on eBay before...unfortunately they didn't get much attention there :bang:

Cheers : )

Hi Vitali,

I probably missed it but I can't find where on your site the nuts and bolts are explained: Does the auction end at a set time or that time plus so long as there isn't a new bid? Do we pay through your site or with the seller by paypal or some other means?

Please point me to answers to these questions and others I'm bound to think of later, or if they aren't on your site maybe you could explain more here.

Thanks, Grey

Thank you Peter, i saw it : ) Arigato.

Grey, when you list up the item you specify the end date and time. The payment system is same as on ebay.

Seller sends the invoice to buyer which contains PayPal link and cost of item, buyer clicks on link and pays the amount after that the site will display the icon "Paid by PayPal"

Someone is working on "FAQ" page as we speak, at the moment there is a help page that explains the menu only.

Lol...Mariuszk if it becomes necessary i sure will, but there are some good customers from China and i do not wish to block good people, we'll see how it goes.

I was referring to nihonto. It would be rather surprising to see nihonto being sold out of China :rotfl: As for reproductions, China is a good source.

BTW, nice site, I'll keep my fingers crossed :)

You may want to stop rolling on the floor and take a look at the classifieds. There's two genuine Nihon To being sold out of China right now.

I think the problem is that ebay has ruined the perception of legitimate nihonto sales. So many sellers located in China fraudulently sell "real nihonto" fakes. I am sure no one here doubts your knowledge of Nihonto.

Lee,

Could you please show me where ? I can't see any... Just one tanto being sold out of Japan. Did you mean eBay? That would be an all time high ;)

The two wakizashi I am selling in the classifieds.

Hong Kong is China.

Don't worry, I know what you're saying about the fakes but I have to speak out against your blanket ban of China as I'd be affected.

And it gets my ad some publicity. ;)

Oh dear, I can't find any classifieds on http://nihontoauction.com/. I would certainly like to see the two wakizashi , and you might consider using the "For Sale or Trade" section of this board to advertise them. You will get publicity, I guarentee it :D

Nothing against China (I actually love Hong Kong), but you must admit that there are so many reproductions coming out of your country and genuine nihonto is sold so rarely that people have just got used to ignoring Chinese sellers?

:D I'm talking about the classifieds on this board. Maybe you're confused by 'classifieds'. It's a term for the for sale section on forum, newspapers, etc.

I understand too well about the reproductions coming out of China and it's what prevents me from selling on ebay.

I'm certain the majority of browsers on ebay would not give me a second look purely for that reason.

Irritating but understandable.

Let's hope Vitali's site can draw enough of an audience to make it a worthwhile arena yet remain free from fakes and scams from any country.

Please dont block China...Im there. There is enough blocked content when using the web here as it is :rotfl:

Incidentally, I have already registered - best of luck!

Bear in mind that there are genuine Nihonto collectors in China. Granted, probably not many, and I am not sure how they get around the laws there, but there is even a legit forum for them. Most of you will have seen http://www.hfsword.com/bbs/forumdisplay.php?fid=4 before.

Perhaps our Chinese speakers will be able to read a bit there and confirm there are serious students of Nihonto there?

Brian

Edit: Also appears to be a Japanese sword forum here: http://www.zhengzong.cn/bbsxp/index.php along with various other military sections.

PS - If anyone is fluent in Chinese and is a member there, please drop me a pm as perhaps they can assist with an item I am after. Thanks.

Guys i would never block whole country because of few bad sellers,

and when i said there are some good customers i meant buyers not sellers,

tho i am still thinking of blocking Minsk Belarus
