tesscoothome123 Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 I have recently found this great site and have a couple question for the veterans here. First, I would like to know what books I can buy to read and learn about Japanese swords and in the distant future translate and second I would like help translating a couple swords my grandpa brought home from WW2. Thank you for you help and as you can tell I am a newbie. Regards, John Quote
Mark Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 John i think there was a thread in the past about books, you might try a search. Sword says Ichiryushi saku, check R Steins website he has a bunch of info on him, look under Nagamitsu Quote
Brian Posted September 19, 2010 Report Posted September 19, 2010 John, Have you played a lot with the colour, contrast and brightness of that pic or has the tang been cleaned and/or worked on? Brian Quote
tesscoothome123 Posted September 19, 2010 Author Report Posted September 19, 2010 Hi Bran, Yes I did play around with the color, contrast, and brightness but the tang is still pretty bright. This is from a late war sword with marine mounts and a machine made blade I believe. I have just taken the hadle off for the first time as it has sat for years. John Quote
David Flynn Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 Not a machine made blade. Ichi Ryu Shi is also a name used by Ichi hara Nagamitsu. Google Ichi hara Nagamitsu. Quote
